You know in advance that when you win that interview invitation you have already made a positive impact. So how do you transform this into a definite job offer? By once again planning and preparing in advance.
There are several different interview types you may encounter. The most common are:
- Single interviewer
- Board or committee type – with several different interviewers. This is more common where the role being recruited has a matrixed reporting structure.
- A technical interview – which involves testing particular skills such as computer programming.
- A group interview - which is usually designed to test group dynamics and may also incorporate psychometric testing.
- Interviews held in assessment centres - which include role-plays, psychometric tests and/or physical tests.
Many companies have a structured approach to interviewing and you may be asked to return several times before a job offer is made.
