Introducing... Cooperative Recruitment
Recruiting for IT skills is becoming harder than ever. According to a recent report, demand for ICT professionals has reached a seven-year high. Why is this? And what new habits should employers adopt to turn the tide in their favour?

Case Study: Master Vendor Contract at IPC Media
When IPC Media signed a Master Vendor contract with Meadows Consulting back in 2005, it was pretty groundbreaking stuff. Encouraging recruitment agencies to work together? Welcome to the free world
There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Yet we are living in an increasingly free world. Free phones, newspapers and software have become the rule rather than the exception. Skilled individuals contribute to the value of products like Linux: for zero return. Why? Is this the start of a major shift in world economics? If so, what effect will the emerging ‘free world’ have on traditional employment models?

Beat the recruitment frenzy!
You know trouble is brewing for business when even supermarket giant Tesco reports poor growth – blaming stores’ underperformance on the lousy summer weather. Whilst the Treasury is predicting a slowdown in consumer spending that will reach a ‘three-year low’, the newspapers are full of the ‘credit crunch’ and the spread of the American mortgage crisis. Wherever you turn, whatever you read, it looks like corporate budgets are in for a tough time. Strangely, this is not so when it comes to recruitment. In fact, it would seem that the race for talented, skilled individuals is keener and more competitive than ever before. Why? And how can you compete with the best employers in town?

What will you be when you grow up?

Time to get age positive
This month our ever-thirsty Meadows newshounds bring intelligence of an imminent ruling that will outlaw employment decisions based on age. New legislation due to be introduced this autumn is designed to protect the young as well as more experienced employees, and should ultimately encourage recruiters to work smarter to attract the right candidates. At Meadows we welcome this new ruling and ask; why would you disadvantage yourself by excluding the broad experience of older staff – or the unfettered thinking of the young – from your team thinking?
